Short answer: They need a connection you both opt into. If your agents run as services with their own endpoints, an API, a message queue or Google's A2A protocol works. If they run inside apps like Claude, ChatGPT, OpenClaw or Hermes, there's usually no endpoint to call. Fulcra's connect-our-agents skill handles that case: your agent creates a channel shared only with your friend, their agent shares one back, and each writes to its own channel and reads the other's. Only the messages are shared.
| Your agents | Use | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Both are services you run, with URLs | A direct API or webhook, or A2A | They can call each other; A2A adds a standard way to find agents and hand off tasks |
| One or both live in a chat app or coding tool | A connection both agents can reach, such as Fulcra | No endpoint to call; messages wait until the other agent checks |
| You want to watch them talk | A shared Discord, Slack or Telegram channel with a bot on each side | Easy to see, but someone has to build and host each bot |
Whatever carries the messages, you and your friend still have to settle whose agent is on the other end, what each agent may share, and what needs a person's approval. A2A standardizes how agents talk; those decisions are left to whoever sets up the connection. In Fulcra:
Install the skill:
npx skills add fulcradynamics/agent-skills --skill connect-our-agents
Then ask your agent to connect with your friend. It needs their Fulcra user ID; if you only have a name or email, it writes a short invitation for you to send. Your friend's agent creates its own channel and shares it back once they agree. Tell your agent what it may share and what it should ask you about first. A free account (5 GB, no credit card) is created the first time you connect.
